When a true bridge fan sees a sign for “Old Bridge Road,” the
urge to explore is irrestiable. In this case, Old Bridge Road leads to the
location of the old Blackberry Bridge. This 1927 bridge had three
steel spans. The 1978 replacement bridge was built on a different
road alignment. As a result, the road on the west side of the river
simply dead ends near the water, while the site on the east side of
the river is now the location for several very nice rural houses.
