This page features three Mississippi River secondary channel crossings to allow automobiles to travel onto and off of Grey Cloud Island, a large island in the Mississippi River between Hastings and St. Paul.

Photos #1 and #2 are of a causeway and bridge on Grey Cloud Trail South, at approximately River Mile 822.4. While this bridge looks sturdy and well maintained, it has a very low weight limit, and signs prohibit two cars from meeting on the bridge. The statistics above are for this bridge.

Photo #3 is of a causeway and bridge on Pioneer Road South, just upstream of the Grey Cloud Trail bridge at River Mile 822.5. Both causeways have parking areas, and appear to be popular local fishing areas.

Photo #4 is the channel crossing on Grey Cloud Island Drive at River Mile 827.3. There is no bridge or culvert visible. In fact, it looks like the highway simply blocks the river channel, without any care for the health of the channel downstream. The water is very stagnant on the south side, with a complete cover of algae. If there is a culvert under the water level, there is no evidence of water flow.
