Thirty years ago, these smaller truss bridges were a common sight on rural highways. They were light weight and inexpensive to build. But they were expensive to maintain, and ever increasing truck traffic could pound them to bits relativley quickly. As a result, we have seen nearly all of these smaller truss briges be replaced by very boring looking concrete or steel girder birdges.

This bridge is probably safe for a number of years in the future. It has relativley little traffic, and it is still in relatively good condition having been rebuilt in 1985. It would be nice to save at least a few of these smaller steel truss bridges.
