Sunfish Slough is a channel on the Illinois side of the Mississippi River. This bridge is relatively new, having been built in 1999. It replaced the June 1956 steel trestle, which replaced an 1892 wooden trestle. The June 1956 bridge was nearly 3 times longer than this structure. The remainder was replaced with an earthen causway.
