Minnehaha Creek Street Crossing Minnetonka, MN
The Cedar Crossings Bridge connects the Cedar Crossing subdivision with
Cedar Lake Road. Cedar Crossings is a group of 14 homes that are nestled
between the BNSF Railroad tracks to the south and the Minnehaha Creek to the
north. The bridge is perhaps better described as a concrete box culvert.
This style of bridge works well for canoe traffic. In fact, the flat walls
and ceiling help prevent debris from hanging up under the bridge and blocking
canoeists. This bridge was built by the developers who built Cedar Crossings
and it is not listed in the National Bridge Inventory.
The photo above is looking north down the length of the bridge deck towards Cedar Lake Road. The brick posts and decorative ironwork really dress up what would otherwise be a very boring square chunk of concrete.
The photo above is a view looking northwest across the bridge deck from near
the southeast corner of the structure. The photo below is the downstream
east side of the bridge. While the brush obscures the view in the autumn,
this bridge is all but hidden during the summer when the brush is thick with
green leaves.
