B-29A Superfortress

B-29

B-29A on display at the Castle Air Museum in Atwater, California. This aircraft is a composite of three Superforts, including 44-70064, 44-61535, and 44-84084. It is commonly refered to as 44-70064 given that the bulk of the fuselage came from that aircraft. The Raz'n Hell nose art comes from 44-61535, which was the original Raz'n Hell that was left out in China Lake as a bombing target. This is one of the few B-29 Superfortresses that is displayed complete with gun turrets. Most B-29's had their guns stripped off when they were modified for weather, tanker, or other similar non-combat roles.
