B-45

B-45C Tornado on display at the US Air Force Museum in Dayton, Ohio. This Tornado is one of 10 built with the B-45C designation. The C model had longer range and a more sophisticated bombing computer. A further 33 of the C model were built as RB recon birds. This plane escaped scrapping because it was on loan to Pratt & Whitney for engine testing. P&W returned the aircraft to the USAF Musuem in 1971 in flying condition. The Tornado sat outside for many years until the second main display hangar was built in the late 1980s. Compared the dull skin near the nose with the shiny skin under the wings.
