B-18 Bolo
Castle Air Museum
Atwater, CA
B-18 Bolo bomber on display at the Castle Air Museum near Atwater,
California, located on the grounds of the former Castle Air Force Base.
This aircraft features the original B-18 bombing nose with the rotating
turret. Future models of the B-18 would have a different style nose that
gave the nose gunner a better view. This B-18 served in WWII, but was
struck from inventory in 1944. She spent her civilian life as a
firebomber dropping borate. After being retired, she was aquired by
the Castle Air Museum and displayed in a WWII era military paint scheme
and markings.
