Four neighborhoods within the Longfellow Community have adopted the community identity rather than advertise their neighborhood names. The neighborhoods are:

Cooper - named after the Cooper Elementary School, which is named in honor of writer James Fenimore Cooper.

Hiawatha - named after Hiawatha Elementary School, which is named for the poem The Song of Hiawatha, written by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow.

Howe - named after Howe Elementary School, which is named in honor of Julia Howe, the author of the song The Battle Hymn of the Republic.

Longfellow - named in honor of poet Henry Wadsworth Longfellow.

Seward Neighborhood Sign   Seward

The Seward neighborhood is named in honor of William Seward, Secretary of State under Presidents Lincoln and Johnson. Seward is remembered for being the architect of the purchase of Alaska from Russia.
