Gemini 3 — Molly Brown
Virgil I. Grissom Memorial
Mitchell, IN

Gemini 3

• Serial Number:2303
• Mission:Gemini GT-03
• Nickname:Molly Brown
• Crew:Grissom, Young
• Launch Date:3-23-1965
• Flight Duration:4 Hours, 53 Minutes
Gemini 3 spacecraft on display at the Virgil I. Grissom Memorial at Spring Mill State Park near Mitchell, Indiana. Gus Grissom died in the Apollo 1 fire, and this museum is one of two memorials near his hometown. The nickname, Molly Brown, is a bit of an inside joke. Grissom’s Mercury capsule sank, nearly killing Grissom. Hoping for better luck this time, the flight was named after the Unsinkable Molly Brown.
