B-47B Stratojet bomber on display at the Mighty Eighth Air Force Museum in Savannah, Georgia. The 8th Air Force was established at Hunter Field in Savannah in 1944. It is one of three numbered Air Forces in the Air Combat Command. The 8th is currently headquartered at Barksdale AFB in Louisiana (near Shreveport), where the USAF maintains a very nice museum dedicated to the 8th Air Force and strategic bombing. The museum in Savannah tells the story of the 8th Air Force from WWII through the cold war, Vietnam, and into Desert Storm.
