B-24J Liberator
Collings Foundation
Stow, MA

B-24

This is the B-24J owned by the Collings Foundation. The Collings Foundation tours this aircraft extensively each year along with the B-17 Nine-O-Nine giving demonstrations and selling rides. This aircraft was one of several B-24's that was sent to India after WWII. The remaining B-24's were all scrapped, so very few survive to this day. After returning from India, this B-24 was painted as the All American, which we see in these two photos. The paint was later changed to The Dragon And His Tail. After two years in that paint job, the B-24 currently sports the nickname Witchcraft. The Collings Foundation has stated that they will change the nickname of the Liberator every few years to honor a different B-24 and combat crew.
