Springdale Farm Bridge
Minnehaha Creek Private Driveway Crossing
Minnetonka, MN

Springdale Farm Bridge

• Structure ID: N/A.
• Location: River Mile 18.1.
• River Elevation: 913 Feet.
• Structure Type: Driveway Bridge.
• Construction: Concrete Slab.
• Length: 22 Feet (Estimated).
• Width: 14 Feet (Estimated).
• Height Above Water: 12 Feet (Estimated).
• Date Built: 1960s (Estimated).
This driveway is a private entrance to a 3 acre estate known as Springdale Farm. In speaking with the owner, the bridge was in place when he purchased the property in 1985. The bridge likely dates to the 1960s. It was built because the previous structure at this location was an impediment to canoeists. The Springdale Farm Bridge is the only privately owned automobile bridge to span the Minnehaha Creek. It is often described as the only privately owned bridge over the creek, but there is a privately owned footbridge located near France Avenue.

These two photos are views from the driveway looking south across the Minnehaha Creek. The photo below is looking down the center of the bridge deck, while the photo below is a view from the northeast corner of the structure.

These two photos are views of the upstream west side of the Springdale Bridge. The vantage point is an island located in the middle of the creek. The photo above is a natural light photo. Given that the sun is in the east, this side of the bridge is in a shadow. The photo below is a closer view of the bridge span with a little more exposure to show the details that are in the shadow seen above.
