This structure is a wooden dam dating from the logging era in the late 1800s. I found it marked on a Minnesota state DNR map. The dam location is difficult to get to due to both sides of the river being private property. About the only way to get to the dam is by canoe. Bridge chaser Randy Hawaii was able to get to the dam and photograph the structure in 2008, confirming that it is still standing after more than 100 years.
