WA-397 Columbia River Crossing At Kennewick Kennewick, Washington
This bridge is the first major cable stayed bridge to be built in the
US. It is so unique that it has become the unofficial symbol of the
tri-city area. The bridge was known as the Pasco Kennewick Bridge,
the Intercity Bridge, or the Cable Bridge, but was officially named the
Ed Hendler Bridge after Hendler passed away in 2001. Hendler was a
local insurance agent who was chair of the bridge commission that
supervised the bridge project.
