The HCMC is built on both sides of 7th Street in downtown Minneapolis. A skyway was built sometime after 1975 but before 1984 that connects the buildings on either side of 7th Steet. Hospital wings have since been built across the roadway on both sides of the skyway, making the skyway somewhat hard to find, and hard to photograph except at a very close distance. The skyway is still very useful in keeping public foot traffic that is moving between buildings out of the 2nd floor hospital treatment areas.
