This bridge once carried US-169. A bypass was built around Shakopee, and US-169 was rerouted to the Bloomington Ferry Bridge in 1996. MN-101 also used this bridge, but the section below US-212 was turned back to the county. After the new bridge was built just downstream, the old bridge was set aside as a regional trail crossing.
